FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Can I learn freediving if I can’t swim?
You can learn even if you can’t swim, but your starting point will be a bit behind others and it will be more challenging. If you can swim, your body control in water and water sense will definitely help you learn freediving.
However, there are many cases of people who couldn’t swim but performed very well in freediving learning. Some athletes couldn’t actually swim before learning freediving. You might just need more time.
We accept students who can’t swim, but strongly recommend improving your swimming skills before learning, as it will make the course more effective.
I’m afraid of water, can I learn freediving?
My instructor training teacher Aharon Solomons once told me, “If students are nervous, it’s normal, but if students panic, it’s the instructor’s problem.”
Our courses progress gradually with skillful and patient guidance. Many students have overcome their fear of water during the course. So if you want to overcome it, come sign up!
What is INNERBLUE’s instructor-to-student ratio?
Our maximum instructor-to-student ratio is 1:3. If there are more than 3 students, an assistant instructor will help lead the class.
The maximum enrollment for each class is 6 people (one instructor + one assistant instructor).
How should I choose which course to take?
We mainly offer half-day “Try Scuba Diving” and 3-day or 4-day “A2 Beginner Course”.
If you’re very afraid of water, unsure if you like it, or if this sport suits you, you can choose “Try Scuba Diving”.
If you’ve already decided you want to learn freediving properly, we recommend signing up for the “AIDA2 Beginner Course”, which will teach you basic and comprehensive freediving skills and knowledge.
If you want more advice, feel free to contact us directly!
Can I sign up alone?
Of course! You can sign up alone and meet many dive buddies and friends here!
What if I don’t learn properly after taking the freediving course?
For INNERBLUE students, we offer “free refresher courses” and “free group training” sessions, allowing you to keep coming back to practice and grow slowly with classmates and instructors. It doesn’t end after the course!
If you’re a student from another dive center, don’t worry. You’re welcome to sign up for our “Training Dive” first. The instructor will discuss with you one-on-one, help identify your issues and situation, and provide advice based on your abilities. Then accompany you to improve through training dives. You don’t need to re-enroll in the A2 course, and we can help you get certified once your abilities meet the standards.
My breath-holding time is very short, can I learn freediving?
Of course! Breath-holding has techniques, and it’s an important chapter in freediving courses.
Over 80% of people can successfully hold their breath for 2 minutes in our A2 course through instructor guidance!
